Chenese
started her modeling career in 2000, when a popular modeling convention
came to her town looking exclusively for plus size models. “I attended
the open call and over half of the women that attended were cut, so I thought
it was a big deal that I was chosen to go! To make a long story short, I spent
a lot of money attending the convention and then went to two more! I got a few
call backs, but nothing came out of it, just a whole bunch of money wasted,”
says Chenese.
After
this experience, Chenese started to do research on the Plus Size Modeling
industry to find that she did not fit the “mold”.
Although her research had the odds stacked against her, Chenese took
on the challenge and made the move to Los Angeles in pursuit of her acting and
modeling career. She recently has worked with Torrid
and Apprecia Fine Jewelry, (featured here today) and is very fortunate to be
starting 2005 off on the right foot, with new and exciting opportunities. “I
feel every time I accomplish something it means so much more, because I don’t
fit all the requirements of the standard plus size model. However instead of
complaining, I work everyday to change
the way society views plus size women,” says Chenese.
When
asking Chenese what her goals for 2005 far are, she emphatically responds, “To
be a positive role model for women on a national level. Whatever projects I
work on, be it modeling or acting, I want to inspire others. I refuse to let
society’s idea of beauty define me and I want to show the world that beautiful,
intelligent and confident women come in all colors, shapes and sizes!”
We
certainly wish Chenese all the best for 2005 and if you would like to find out
